Pizza Dough
Make 6 10-inch pizzas
Ingredients
Dough
- 5 cups all purpose flour, plus some for dusting
- 1.5 tsp instant dry yeast
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 2.25 cups cold water
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- corn meal for the stone
Toppings
- pizza sauce
- cheese
- toppings of choice
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 525 (or as high as it can go) and bake the stone for at least 45 minutes
- In the kitchen aid bowl use the paddle attachment to mix the flour, salt, and yeast on low speed
- Add the cold water
- Switch to a dough hook and mix on low speed for 8-10 minutes. The dough will be smooth and sticky but it won't stick to the sides of the bowl. If it is sticking, add a little more flour.
- Remove the dough and cut it into 6 pieces
- Form the pieces into rounds and place them on a lightly oiled cookie sheet
- Drizzle with about 1 Tbsp of olive oil
- Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 2 hours
- Sprinkle the counter and your fingers with flour. Put one piece of dough down and press it with your fingers until you have a 1/2" thick circle. Stretch it until it is about 10" in diameter.
- Dust a pizza peel (or cutting board or piece of cardboard) with corn meal. Set your pizza dough on top.
- Top your dough with toppings of your choice
- Slide the pizza onto the pizza stone
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown
- Enjoy!
Notes:
- After step 7, the dough can be placed in the refrigerator overnight or frozen. Make sure to allow the dough time to warmup and rise once you take it out.
