Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls

BEST CINNAMON ROLLS EVER!!!!!

Makes 12 cinnamon rolls

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter unsalted (or salted and just don't add salt)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Filling

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2.25 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup butter unsalted (salted is fine too

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Icing Frosting

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 Tbsp milk

Directions

  1. Heat the milk to about 110 degrees.
  2. Add the yeast and a tsp of sugar.
  3. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  4. In a stand mixer add the sugar, butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Mix until well incorporated
  5. Pour the milk and yeast over the flour and mix well with a dough hook. The dough should come off clean from the side of the bowl.
  6. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  7. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  8. Grease a 9x13 pan or 2 9" cake pans with cooking spray or butter
  9. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll into a 16x12 inch rectangle. It should be about 1/4 inch thick.
  10. Spread the butter over the dough.
  11. Sprinkle with the sugar/cinnamon mix and lightly press it into the butter.
  12. Roll the dough tightly along the long edge.
  13. Cut into 12 slices and place them in the baking pan.
  14. Cover and let them rise for 30 minutes
  15. Bake at 350 (325 for dark pans) for about 20 minutes or until slightly brown.
  16. Mix all the frosting ingredients together and blend well. 

Notes:

  • These freeze super well. If you want to freeze them as individual rolls freeze them on a pan first without them touching for a couple of hours. Then place them in a freezer bag or container. Reheat them in the microwave for about 45 seconds for a single roll or until heated through. 
  • To freeze them before baking complete steps 1-13. Wrap the pan well with plastic wrap. The night before you want to bake the rolls thaw them in the fridge overnight. Continue the rest of the steps.
  • To prepare the night before complete steps 1-13. Cover the pan and place them in the fridge. The next morning continue the rest of the steps.
